A child’s smile is one of the most precious things in the world. So, when it comes to oral care, whether curative or preventive, money should never be a barrier. That’s why, pending the introduction of the new Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), the Canada Dental Benefit has introduced two benefit periods for children.
Is your child under 12? The Canada Dental Benefit is available until June 30, 2024. Learn more about eligibility requirements and how to receive payment for dental expenses.
Criteria
The benefit is for families who need it. To receive payment, you must have children aged 12 and under, and they must not already be covered by any other plan or private insurance. In addition, your adjusted family net income must be less than $90,000.
The benefit amount varies depending on your income bracket:
- $80,000 to $89,999: $260
- $70,000 to $79,999: $390
- Under $70,000: $650
These amounts can be split in case of shared custody. For the second period, you may receive one or two payments for each eligible child.
How to receive payment
The dental centre will provide you with a receipt for dental care. Make sure to keep it. You will next be able to apply for benefit on CRA’s My Account portal or by calling the CRA or the TTY line.
Don’t forget to book an appointment before the June 30, 2024, deadline to take advantage of the second benefit period. At Centre Dentaire Dre Nathalie Kadoch, we treat your children’s health with the utmost care.
