The electric toothbrush

Oral hygiene is essential not only to the health of your teeth, but also to your general health. The way you brush your teeth is important, but so is the tool you use to do it! While a manual toothbrush can do the job, an electric toothbrush is much more effective!

Extensive research has shown that the electric toothbrush is better at removing plaque. The Cochrane organization reviewed many studies and concluded that in just three months, electric brush users had 11% less plaque. The proportion climbed to 21% after one year.

Removing more plaque is linked to a significant reduction in the risk of developing dental or periodontal disease. Plaque causes, among other things, cavities and gingivitis, so removing it effectively will help you maintain better oral health.

When plaque is not removed, it turns into tartar, a hardened substance that is more difficult to remove. Your electric toothbrush can help prevent the buildup of tartar.

Some people do have concerns about electric toothbrushes. However, you should know that most modern toothbrushes have pressure sensors that block the mechanism when you press too hard. Conversely, many users damage their enamel and gums with manual toothbrushes because of an inadequate brushing technique or toothbrush selection.

Electric toothbrushes are easy to use and help you maintain good oral hygiene while doing a better job at cleaning your teeth. For more tips, just contact our team or book an appointment!
